Why I switched to a custom domain and what stack I use
A friend of mine reached out to me and said that Substack is deboosted on X. This means that whenever I post content on X the algorithm will automatically make it so my post doesn’t show up properly.
So what did I do?
I’m not one to fall to the whim of platforms and knew that if I set up a custom domain name with Substack it would be a lot harder for the X algo to deboost my content.
Things I learned in this process:
Substack charges $50 to set up a custom domain.
You have to set up a DNS configuration on your domain name provider (I chose Namecheap) and set a CNAME www record to point to Substack’s servers and an A record so that redirects from the root domain to the www record work properly.
Once all of that is set up Substack takes time to verify the configuration. Once it’s all set up you’re good to go. You can now access my blog at https://www.nisarghq.com
